Geneva, February 25, 2025 – Saudi Arabia has urged intensified global attention to the human rights situation in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories. Speaking at the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council, Dr. Hala Al-Tuwaijri, president of the Human Rights Commission, called for preserving Item 7 on the council’s agenda, ensuring its activation until an independent Palestinian state is established on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
According to the source, Dr. Al-Tuwaijri also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s human rights advancements under Vision 2030, emphasizing equality, non-discrimination, and empowerment of women, youth, and vulnerable groups. She noted the Kingdom’s legislative reforms, ensuring rights protection for over 15 million foreign residents.
Reaffirming Saudi Arabia’s commitment to global peace and security, she praised Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s mediation efforts in securing a prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine.
Dr. Al-Tuwaijri also stressed the importance of combating hate speech, respecting religious values, and preserving family structures. She reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to cooperating with UN human rights mechanisms while respecting cultural diversity and rejecting the imposition of singular values on societies.
